WALKLEY COMMUNITY CENTRe
It’s nearly Halloween, the clocks are going back…what film could be more perfect than Cocteau’s dreamlike classic tucked away at a venue full of character in Walkley?
Our beatnik friends arrived to the sounds of the automatic piano in the foyer, and had a chance to enjoy a bespoke Magic Lantern cookie from Campervan Cookies before the happening got going with some noodlings and poetry from Meson.
And the film! So atmospheric, such great special effects (especially considering it was made in 1950), and so French and stylish. Yet literary too – the story is the Greek myth of Orpheus, and our hero is caught between this world and the underworld.
